He holds a Doctorate of Literature (Ph.D.) from Jeonbuk National University. He served as a Professor at the College of Humanities at Chonnam National University. He won the JoongAng Ilbo Spring Literary Contest and the Jeonnam Ilbo (Kwangju Ilbo) Spring Literary Contest. He is the recipient of the Grand Prize (Highest Honor) at the International Comprehensive Art Exhibition and holds the title of Master of Western Painting for the International Culture and Arts Masters Association. He also won the Grand Prize at the Art Exhibition of the Korea Labor Culture and Arts Festival.
