He graduated from Hongik University with a degree in Printmaking. He holds the title of Master Craftsman of Wood and Lacquer Craft of the Republic of Korea. He is the recipient of the Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit of the Republic of Korea and the Cheoltab (Iron Tower) Order of Industrial Service Merit of the Republic of Korea.
He currently serves as the Director of the Hanmok Craft and Design Research Institute. Additionally, he has served as a Cultural Heritage Expert Committee Member for the Cultural Heritage Administration and is an Honorary Professor at Korea Polytechnic III University and Gangneung University.
